With the news that bowls has recommenced in England and Scotland we are expecting news next week that clears the way to restart bowls in Wales very soon. However it is reasonable to assume that it will not be bowls as we know it and only limited options for play at the green. The club will be also required to complete risk assessments and confirm that it is able to put in safe and appropriate guidelines to allow play to restart

We do not know yet what the full extent of the ongoing restrictions will be, but we can expect social distancing requirements to continue and only partial use of the rinks. It is unlikely that we will be able to open the clubhouse or bar, but we should be able to provide access to the toilets if required. We will need to provide materials for disinfecting equipment and sanitising hands etc.

It is also likely that we will have to operate a booking system so that members only turn up at the green when they have booked an allocated rink for practice - our thoughts are that we will operate an online and telephone system to make sure this works for everyone that wants to play. It will also be helpful if those retired members could book rinks during the day and leave the allocations for the evening for those members that work.

However we will also need members to use their common sense and not seek to exploit the guidelines - this pandemic is not over yet and we must continue to ensure that all our members are protected as far as possible. Not abiding to the guidelines means that you not only put yourself at risk but also risk the health of other members, so we shall be closely ,observing how these revised guidelines are maintained.

As soon as we receive further advice for BowlsWales and Sport Wales we will of course confirm the dates that we are able to reopen the green but for now please continue to demonstrate the patience that you have shown so well over the past few weeks.

Of course, this proposed relaxation of restrictions only applies to fully paid up members; if you have not paid for fees for 2020, regrettably you will not be able to book any rinks for play. We are still accepting membership fees which can be paid online or via the treasurer or secretary.
